- Thank you for providing this information. It is now clear that the price
- they
- charge for these models is not related to having any more powerful
- architecture
- but just enough to match the maximum throughput. These models are far
- more expensive than the standard "rest of the world" modems yet lack any
- real hardware based benefit when compared to our AMQUEST HYPERMODEM. Most
- modems are based upon an 8 Bit microprocessor
- running at around 14MHZ vs ours using a 20MHZ processor. The key is
- to have the right match of power versus application requirement. It is
- clear
- that with a 20mhz processor you can achieve maximum performance to match
- the maximum line speed. The 68000 is overpriced overkill while a 14MHZ is
- underpowered for full line potential.
